Ayrshire Coastal Path 2013

Ayrshire Coastal Path

Did I really walk parts of the Ayrshire coast?  Did I cancel my trip only a week in?  Did I make diversions to places I had not planned on visiting?  Was this the best possible time for an injury during my entire holiday?  Find out in these exciting episodes of my week in the Ayrshire area.

Nowadays the Ayrshire Coastal path runs from Glenapp in the south to Skelmorlie in the north.  When I was planning to walk it, I believe it started at or near Girvan and went north.  My original plan had been to walk south, beginning in Largs, and ending slightly inland, south of Girvan, in a small village called Pinwherry, with most of the days involving me being dropped off at the start of the day (usually where I ended the previous day) and then collected again at the end of the day, to spend each night at Tom's place in Galston.  Due to an ankle injury I sustained while walking the Great Glen Way (which I was unable to finish) my Ayrshire Coastal walk was adjusted significantly.  In fact, you probably could argue that I did not walk the Ayrshire Coast at all.  I spent my days being driven around, seeing sights and areas that I would likely not have otherwise, but getting in a couple of short sections of the coast anyway.  Read on to follow the disruption in my plans.
