Lady Anne's Way 2019
I had first walked Lady Anne’s Way in 2015, and it immediately became my favourite LDW. I’m not sure why; perhaps it was the charm of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It certainly was one of the reasons that during my 3-month 2019 walking holiday I spent a lot of time in the north of England. Also, as I was unsure if I would ever be in England again (a thought I had during almost every English walking holiday so far), I thought I would revisit my favourite walk just in case I would never have the opportunity to walk it again. In hindsight it was a good thing because, not only did I walk a massive holiday and redid the best walk I had done previously but, the COVID-19 pandemic hit 6 months later and shut down the entire world. In fact, at the time of writing this, I am just entering my 7th week of isolation at my property in Matata, New Zealand, having left my property only twice in that time to collect groceries that I ordered online for collection. So, international travel is not possible currently and likely won’t be for some time. If/when it is available to the general public again, it may never look the same. Will I ever return to England to walk those trails again …? I just don’t know. For now, I’ll just have to be content with reliving them through my journals and photos of those times.
As this was the second time I walked this trail, I did not take as many photos, and at this stage of my 3-month walk I had given up on taking my DSLR camera out of my day pack every time I wanted to take a photo, and putting it back every time it began to rain, so the photos this time around were taken with my new-ish smart phone (whether that be good or bad, I don't know).
