Coast to Coast Day 3
Tuesday 1st October 2019 Patterdale
Today was not a fun day. It was not because it rained all day. It was not because my feet/boots were wet from before 11 until after 5 when I took the boots off. It was because of the uneven terrain and that I was constantly looking down for feet placement, so had little chance to look around and see what was about me. The distance of less than 30km took me more than 8 hours to walk (quite possibly a record slow progress day for me).
I disliked the walk today because you never
really get a chance to see the views unless you are constantly stopping. I prefer to be able to stroll and look around
while doing so. I officially dislike the
Lake District. The photos above do not depict the hard to navigate parts (the majority) where I was frustrated and cursing.
Upon arrival at Patterdale I had an early and quick dinner at a pub and then wandered to the farmhouse B&B for a very cold and dribbly shower before reading for the evening. However, I did sleep well.
