South West Coastal Path 2015 Day 4
Friday 28th August 2015
I was disappointed that I did not get to walk
through Watermouth harbour, as my route guide suggested I do, as the tide was
in.
Much of the day was very muddy walking, and every time I came across a stream I was washing the mud off my boots.

Welcome to HELL! (actually Hele, oops) |
In Ilfracombe I became very frustrated with
the lack of route marking, and just guessed my way. I mean, in the end I’m following a coast so,
if I don’t see water for some time, I know I’ve gone the wrong way.
I had been walking with my laces loosened, and my ankle felt fine so I tightened them up, but soon it was aching again, so I guess it is not quite right.
At Woolacombe I had to head off-trail, as my
accommodation was inland at the Fortescue Arms. A 40-minute
walk later I found it.
