Pennine Way Day 11
Tuesday 3rd September 2019 Alston
I sorted the laundry I had done the night before, but my bog-stained shorts did not come clean (nor did they the next 3 times I washed them). After breakfast I went out and met Robin. We headed out, passing Mike and Adam, who had left before us from the hostel. Then Robin and I climbed into the mist and saw nothing at all, all day, other than what you see in these 2 photos.
The 5km walk down Corpse Road was at a rather fast pace, arriving into a very dead (or deathly quiet) Garrigil.
We slowed the pace into Alston, stopping briefly at the YHA (where I was staying) as we passed. We hit a pub for a pint and then Robin headed out of town to his B&B and I returned to the hostel to run into Graham once more. We waited for Graham’s friend, Dave (who didn’t want to join us after all) and then went into town to the pub for dinner.
