Dales Way 2018 Day 4
Sunday 5th August 2018 Dent
Some dramatic scenery to begin with, in the
first hour or two of the day.
I crossed paths with the Pennine Way (and maybe this moment in time was when I seriously considered the Pennine Way as a walk, which I did the following year).
Unfortunately, much of the rest of the day was within earshot of the numerous Sunday drivers. Also, there was a long road walk passing the Dent viaduct and for a few kilometres afterward (but the following year on the Dales High Way discovered I could have walked a section of that route instead to avoid the roads – why the Dales Way doesn’t take that nicer detour, I don’t know, I guess because it wants to follow the river and stick to the valley?).
I arrived at the hotel in Dent at 2:45, beating my pack arrival. For dinner it was cod ‘n’ chips (yes, again) and spotted dick pudding. I spent the evening reading, of course.
