Dales Way 2018 Day 2

Friday 3rd August 2018 Kettlewell

After 9 and a half hours sleep I got away from the B&B around 9 a.m. and got to Grassington around 10.

In Grassington I added weight to my pack by purchasing a 4-pack of cider from the Spar.

After Grassington the trail left the riverside for the high fells and moorland, similar to Lady Anne’s Way (which it should as it is almost the same route along this part, just at a slightly lower elevation).

There seemed to be more people out and about as the day went on.

I arrived in Kettlewell at 1, but the hostel didn’t open until 4.  I sat on the bench in front of the hostel for a bit to read, but I hit a pub for a cider during a spot of rain.

The hostel opened and I chatted with the owner, Saul, for a bit.  They actually do your laundry for you here, so I had to take advantage of that!

To a pub for a pricey cod and chips and a cider (which makes me not want to stay overnight in Kettlewell again in the future, and so far I haven’t, although I did have a lunch special in a pub in 2019 there).
