Cotswold Way 2014 Day 9
Wednesday 6th August 2018 Bath Epilogue
It was a horrible sleep last night, with the
noise from the pub below (the entrance to which right below the window of the
hostel room), other hostellers staying in the same room entering, turning on
lights, making noise, snoring, etc and then the pre 6 a.m. deliveries happening
in the street. There was a girl sleeping
in the bunk above (odd considering it was a male dorm, but this wasn’t the only
time this has happened). As I couldn’t
sleep, I got up and wandered the very empty early morning streets.
After breakfast, and with my train trip not until late afternoon, I spent the day wandering the streets, reading.
Eventually I came across Rick in one of the city squares; I chatted with him
until Barb returned and, apparently, the two of them did not walk the final day
yesterday, but caught a taxi to Bath instead and did the tourist thing. They left, catching a train to London, and I
continued wandering, checking out the (mostly female) sights of Bath.
It was a lazy drawn-out day with little to do, but eventually I collected my pack from storage and sat at the rail station for more than an hour before catching my own train to Frome, where I would start walking the Mendip Way the next day.
