Coast to Coast Day 8
Sunday 6th October 2019 Osmotherley
Already off-route by almost a day, I began today by finding a way to rejoin the "official" trail. I needn't have bothered. Today was another drizzly day, and I had wet,
sodden, cold feet all day (curse these boots and their lack of waterproofness).
Much of the day was either across farmland, or along roads to avoid
the route that was across said farmland. At one point I recall lifting my head slightly to look ahead only to see two people coming out of the drizzle walking the trail in the opposite direction toward me, and them lifting their gaze to see me coming at them in the drizzle, before we both lowered our gaze to the wet trail once again. Only 2 photos today because of the moisture, and I'm unsure why I even took the first of those.
There was some confusion at the YHA in Osmotherley as a group had booked out the main hostel and I was shown to a different entrance leading up to a separate area. After dumping my things, I hit a pub in the town proper for fish ‘n’ chips, then I came back to do some washing. At first I thought I was going to have to hang the laundry on the radiators overnight, but then I was told I could use the ones in the main hostel itself, so I went down there and drank a cider while waiting for it (the laundry, not the cider) to dry and listening to the chatter of the group that were staying.
