Cleveland Way 2018 Day 2

Saturday 11th August 2018

It was an 8:30 start and the morning was a hard slog with many ups and downs, but great views.

I was feeling the pain in my thighs (straining at the climbs) and my right shin (from the impact on the downward parts).

The afternoon was flatter, up on the moors, but rather bleak with long distances without much change to the scenery.

When reaching Kildale I walked right through, looking for signs of the bunk barn I was to stay in, but couldn’t find it.  I retracted my steps and asked in the café as to where it might be.  A walk along a busy road finally led me to it, and I discovered that there was access prior to getting to Kildale from the Way, but the sign was hidden in the hedge (or I was too unobservant).

I purchased some coke and a can of beans from the owners and settled in to stay in a byre for the night.
