South West Coastal Path 2015 Day 2
Wednesday 26th August 2015
After being driven to Porlock Weir again, I
started out. The blisters I had acquired
during the walks in Shropshire, that initially felt like invisible bruises,
then more like a broken ankle yesterday, today felt just like the tendon issue
I had during the Great Glen Way 2 years previous.
At one point there was a choice to follow the official path, or to keep to the coast to run above a lighthouse and continue. However, the track I was on seemed more like a goat track, and there was nothing but a steep incline on my right down to a drop into the ocean (or on the rocks). As I was (as yet) unused to walking alongside steep drops, I turned back up to the official path.
On and off throughout the day I ran into a
Scotsman called Andrew. Eventually we
connected and walked the last leg of this stage into Lynmouth, a quaint seaside
village where 2 rivers join.
A steak and ale pie and a pint of cider at a local pub finished the day off nicely.
