South West Coastal Path 2015 Day 18
Friday 11th September 2015
Today was a bit of a day of negatives. Some of them were: I popped into the bakery, but after walking
away with a couple of items I realised they had overcharged me by a couple of
pounds, I had a bruised right
ankle, and I had to contend with sand dunes;
not only is walking on sand more laborious, but the sand gets into the boots
and rubs through the lining).
I ran into a couple, and the man asked me if I knew the history of the area. He told me that the huts down in the dunes were for storing explosives so that if they went off, they would mostly go into the surrounding sand.
Another negative: Just after chatting with the guy, I was bit (luckily, not seriously) by a dog, which brought back memories of my prolonged medical issue after a worse bite in Canada back in 2009.
Luckily this didn't bite me! |
Finally I arrive at my hostel in St. Ives to find my pack
had been left in the entranceway, and the hostel was extremely busy, so anyone
could have walked off with it. As it
was, I arrived very early, so headed of to the movies, where I had the entire
theatre to myself. Oddly enough, in the
male dorm room I had a bunk in, there was a woman (with her boyfriend).
