Shropshire Hills 2019 Part 1 Day 4
Thursday 1st
August 2019 (my sister’s birthday)
I was
unsure of where I wanted to go, and what I wanted to do today. I began with some vague idea of hitting the
Stiperstones, so wandered up onto the Mynd and across on a diagonal, then down
toward Bridges, but then changed my mind and headed east, somehow finding
myself heading down the vague track that goes past the Lightspout waterfall. I had walked up to the waterfall once before,
from the Cardingmill Valley end, but never went past, probably because at the
time I did not see how to navigate up it.
This time however, I was approaching from the other direction, and would
arrive at the top of the waterfall. The
sun, and a few people were out, and once I got to the waterfall, I found more
people had gathered there, but I did not daly, I clambered down the side of it
and walked on by. I guess I wasn’t in
the mood for walking that day, as I spent the afternoon in the Church Stretton
library reading a book by Malcolm Saville (who’s Lone Pine Adventures are often
in locations on and around the Long Mynd).
I did,
however, take one single photo today.
