Shropshire Hills 2014 Day 3
Day 3 Saturday 26th July 2014
Today I headed south, using the path over the hill to Little Stretton,
then through Minton, and Hamperley (the same journey I took the last morning I was here the
previous year), and then up to Prior’s Holt.

I attempted to walk around the
southern part of the Mynd, but the trails were overgrown and I ended up pushing
my way through bracken and blackberry and getting rather scratched.
I got a little disoriented around Hillend Farm
but eventually stumbled over the Jack Mytton/Shropshire way and headed north up
onto the Long Mynd.
I passed by the pine
plantations and sat and had some lunch but felt unusually bone weary.
Then it was on past the gliding club, Pole
Cottage, Pole Bank, and the Shooting Box and further north where I saw a couple of wild ponies.
Then I turned east and down through
Jonathan’s Hollow and along the lane. I
missed the path off to the right to Church Stretton and ended up walking the B5477
road instead for a while until I found a path back up. I wandered slightly up the Carding Mill
Valley to where I had stashed some ciders in the stream that morning, and
deservedly drank one as it was rather humid.
After that I had my usual Church Stretton meal, with some coke this time
– do you think I can make it 4 nights running tomorrow?
