Borders Abbeys Way 2019 Day 5
Saturday 14th September Kelso to Jedburgh
I didn’t write much in my journal, other than
that I arrived in Jedburgh at 1, after walking 19km in 3.5 hours, so another fast-paced
day. I recall walking a dirt farm lane
(or race) that ran very straight and flat for a large portion of the day. Coming into Jedburgh I chose to walk a quiet
back road, rather than head back up onto the ridge to enter the town via the official
trail, as I had walked that route on Monday, and would be doing the reverse
along it tomorrow morning.
I ate a sandwich while sitting on a bench just
outside the abbey, but right above the road.
Then I hit the co-op to purchase food for dinner, walked the 2km out of
town, and ate in my room at the B&B.
Tomorrow I would have to retrace my steps back into Jedburgh and beyond
to rejoin the St. Cuthbert’s way, which I will spend the next 3 and a bit days on.
