Shropshire Hills 2018 Day 2
Day 2 Thursday 16th August 2018
Today I followed Wild Edric’s Way as far as
the Stiperstones, using a Shropshire Hills walking guidebook I had had for
years. The path was pretty much the route I had taken before, up Carding Mill Valley, over the Mynd, down into Ratlinghope, around past Bridges, then up to the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve.
Up on the Long Mynd I saw, yet again, some wild ponies and, when coming off it, and interesting tree.
I made a wrong turn somewhere,
getting as far as Cranberry Rock, so I gave up and sat to eat my lunch beneath
Ryk Tor (the, until today, unnamed tor between Cranberry Rock and Manstone
Rock). It was down to Bridges pub for an
early dinner of a ploughman’s, now smaller and served on a plate instead of a
board, and a cider. Then it was a return
walk to Church Stretton and the B&B.
